Help With Common Injuries

There are a large number of conditions treated by physiotherapy, with treatment proving to be very effective in helping patients fully recover.

The most common injuries include ankle sprain, hamstring strain, shin splints, knee injuries, groin pull and tennis elbow.

Sprains are injuries to ligaments, the tough bands connecting bones in a joint. Stretching ligaments past their limits can result in a tear.

Strains are injuries to muscle fibers or tendons, which anchor muscles to bones. Strains are called pulled muscles which means they are over-stretched or overused which can result in a tear in the muscle fibers or tendons. Most often common sports injuries are mild or moderate and heal quite rapidly but some common sports injuries may take several months to heal. Surgery may be needed followed by a course of physiotherapy.

Depending on the extent of the injury, ultrasound, electrotherapy, acupuncture and an exercise plan will be put in place to help the patient get back to normal.
